Overview
Pilloxa is a Swedish company founded in 2014, whose goal is to enable universal access to safe, trustworthy, and valuable digital tools. The company’s flagship offering is a platform where clients can create a customized app for their patients with tailored modules, settings, and content. Clients also have the option of adding on hardware, such as the smart pill box profiled here. Pilloxa has primarily rolled out its products in Europe, where it has achieved CE marking and partnered with organizations like Bayer.
How it works
Pilloxa One is a smart pillbox that can be connected to a smart device to track medicine adherence. The pillbox has embedded tablet sensors that connect to an app where patient data and adherence information is displayed in real-time on a dashboard. Patients are notified when it’s time to take their medication, reminded if they forget, and their progress is tracked in real-time. The Pilloxa One is wireless, connecting via Bluetooth. The pill box needs to be recharged every 3-4 days.
